Time to head for the higher elevations now for trout

Postby Bill Kiene » Mon Jul 15, 2013 7:16 am

I would be looking at 5,000 to 10,000 feet to find lakes that still have good surface temperitures for trout.

July/Aug/Sept are top months for back packing or horse/mule packing trips.

There are at least a dozen great pack stations in California's high country that can take you our for a day or even longer.

Kennedy Meadows Pack Station east of Stockton, CA specializes in packing fly fishers to good streams and lakes.

Reds Meadow Pack Stations down souht in Mammoth Lakes, CA does a great job for fly fishers too.

You can Google their web sites.
