Steelhead on lower American River

Postby Bill Kiene » Sat Jan 06, 2007 12:04 am

Terry Thomas caught this nice Steelhead on the American River today with local guide Keith Kaneko, Jan 5, 2007.

Fishing for Steelhead on the American River will usually be good Jan, Feb and March if we don't get too many storms.

23 miles of American River seem to be a Steelhead River out of place. Looking at the American River on Google Earth or a map you would never guess it's one of the top Steelhead RIvers in not just California but in the entire west! The American flows right through the heart of the densely populated Sacramento region, where more than a million people live.Yet this river isn't what you think.
