Where is the best street to access Seal Beach? Is morning or evening better there for flyfishing?

Celticangler,

If you're asking about Seal Beach in Orange County, here's what I do...

I take I-405 (or I-605) to the Seventh Street (Long Beach) exit. From there, I take the next exit ramp off to the right for Studebaker Road. At the end of the ramp, I turn left, and proceed to Second Street, where I turn right and head toward Alamitos Bay. I pass through the intersection at Pacific Coast Highway, and take the first left at the Alamitos Bay Boat Yard. I think this is Marina Drive. I continue to the point where Marina Drive makes a jog to the left and crosses over the San Gabriel River. Instead of turning, I proceed across that intersection and park in the fishing access stalls to by the chain-link fence that face the river channel.

After getting my kit together, I then walk across the Marina Drive Bridge to the opposite side of the river channel, and proceed on th ecycling path to the beach.

Corbina tend to be an early morning thing. You'll catch barred surfperch early in the morning or late in the evening at times. Yellowfin croakers are typically an evening bite catch, as are halibut during grunion run times.

I park where I do because I like fishing that river channel, too, either on my way out to the beach or on my way back from it.

Blessings and TL's,
-JP
