I'm just getting into saltwater fly fishing, having fished trout rivers in suburban Connecticut and New York off-and-on for the last 10 years. I'm a California native and I own property on the water in Laguna Beach, OC. I'd like to start fly fishing the area, but I'm not sure if it's feasible. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to saltwater fly fishing and would appreciate some tips.

William,
It seems surf fishing anyway, is pretty good along the entire coast. There are MANY great resources avaiable to someone wanting to give it a try. Rather than launching into a soliloquy on surf fishing, I'm going to give you some links to follow. It's a blast, by the way, I hope you find what you want here.
If reading through some of these don't lead you in the right direction, I'd say visit a fly shop that has a salt water lean. Those guys'll talk your ear off usually, and tell you what flies and other gear will work for what you want to try.
