Yosemite Valley in September

Postby Ed Hartman » Sat Aug 05, 2006 10:41 am

We are heading up to Yosemite NP in mid-September and staying in the valley. Having never fished there, just done the tourist side of things, I would appreciate any guidance on areas to fish, flies, regs, etc. Thanks

The July/Aug ish, by the way, has an article on fly-fishing the Yosemite backcountry around Tuolumne Meadows. There're certainly opportunities for fishing during a day hike -- the Lyell and Dana Forks of the Tuolumne River, for example.

Just got back from there on Sunday 9-3 Fished the Lyle fork of the touolomne and the toulomne in the meadows. Both held plenty of little brookies willing to hit dries but all were on the smallish side 6-8".

The fishing report shared above is really helpful. We are planning for a small trip to Yosemite NP in the next month for fishing with our customer management software team, and the map you have shared here looks very useful to find the fishing areas.
