Bear Creek or Santa Ana River

Postby Tylerwoods07 » Mon Jul 15, 2013 8:21 am

I have tomorrow off and was wondering if Bear Creek or the Santa Ana would be worth a trip with the 3 wt. I've been told that flows could be way down and there may be no water running. If anyone knows of these rivers and can help me out I would appreciate it. Or, if you have any recommended water I would love to hear about it. I'm from Michigan originally and now work as a golf pro in La Quinta. Not much to fish around here so any help would be awesome! Thanks

Hi, wondering if you had any luck in the area? I visited a couple weeks back, near the Southfork Campsite, and walked a little ways down the river. Had a couple bites from little trout in the river, but not much water to speak of. Have been itching to try my new fly rod, and wondering what your experience was like with that area?

btw, you can do some warm water fishing for bass in local parks.
