West Fork SGR

Postby Outlawman » Tue Jan 01, 2013 12:56 pm

Went up yesterday arriving around 8:30 am with my friend Rich. We were surprised to find others were already there (New Years Eve) as we expected to be the only ones up there. Walked in a couple miles and past the 2nd bridge where we started to fish the wild trout section... for nada! Water's very low and we saw no fish at all. We also spoke with the other fly fishermen and zilch for them also. No word of anyone even spotting one fish nor a missed hit....

Oh well, it was a beautiful morning stroll in the national forest.

I fished the same area with a friend 1/5. We caught a total of 7, all in the afternoon. I was using a #16 parachute Adams, he was using a #18 Caddis. The next weekend I took my grandson. He had no luck until switching to the parachute Adams. Again all the action was in the late afternoon. He caught 4 in just one pool!
