I just started steelhead fishing three years ago. I don't know much about spey rod. My question is what type of spey rod should I choose?
I usually go to Northern California coastal river and this year I am planning to take a trip to Oregon or Washington. But I will probably stay in CA for most of my fly fishing trip. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Abe, I personally don't know much about Spey rods, but here're two suggestions. First, if there's a fly shop near you, ask the staff if they have recommendations (and also, of course, try to find out if they do much Spey fishing themselves); this may at least get you pointed in the right direction. Second, if you live in or near the San Francisco Bay Area, you might visit the "Spey-O-Rama" that the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club is hosting in Golden Gate Park on April 23, 24, and 25.
