While flipping through my Cabela's catalog, I ran across a nymphing kit they were selling. It was a small flybox full of weights, indicators, etc. I thought this beat the heck out of having all that junk spread throught my vest in a dozen different boxes, bags and such. Plus it is portable. If I am going vestless, in my pontoon or with a back pack, I only need to grab one box along with my flies. But I wasn't about to pay for something I could make myself, so I started looking around.

What I found were Toobies. Those little Hevi-Shot weights that you poke into the rubber tubing. Well the kits come in a nice little box that worked great. To that I added various indicators and their I was. A new nymphing kit. I also use the Palsa pinch on foam indicators, but they won't fit in the box. I am working on that. Anyway, its an easy little project and will make my nymph fishing easier and more organized.

Neat post. I have been pondering a similar idea but including a handful of most-commonly-used flies (nymphs) in the same box. Thanks for the prod/inspiration.

Smart idea, Dan. And I'm sure that those small, clear, plastic utility boxes available in hardware stores everywhere could also serve in a pinch for nymph-tackle storage.

Ya, if you add a few flies all you need is your rod and reel and you're fishing. A little bigger box and an inexpensive rod and reel might be all you need to keep in your truck emergencies.
