I just bought a Lamson Radius and the overall range of drag adjustment seems rather light, i.e., no perceptible drag torque at all until the drag knob is turned in nearly one full revolution, and at the tightest drag setting the spool still turns more freely than on my other lamson reels.

Lamson issued me a Return Authorization, but I'll need to send it back for warranty repair at my expense (no surprise there), but Lamson wants an additional $20 for "shipping and handling."

Let's see . . . $10 to get the reel shipped to me in the first place, $10 to send it back to Lamson, then another $20 to Lamson to send it back to me. I'm just enough of a skin flint to explore an alternative to paying UPS to send a reel all over the country, but I don't want to void the warranty by ignorantly fiddling around with the reel and breaking something.

So if an experienced person can tell me how to make an internal adjustment to the drag mechanism, then I'd prefer to just do it myself rather than send the reel back to Lamson. If not, then back to Lamson it goes.

howdy DaveC. didn't you post this to another forum? no help yet? the drag on mine feels fine to me so maybe you simply got a bad apple. another option you didn't mention is to send it back for a return from whence it came. a mail oder place? perhaps they have a return policy without all the financial hassle? good luck and let us know what happens.
