Re: Lake Berryessa has trout on top now

Hi Bill, I figured I'd wait a few years to respond. Whew. I did not live nor study in Davis but grew up in Walnut Creek. Question: Do you know anyone who has a cache of those old Angler Magazines? Peter Moyle at IC Davis is interested in seeing the issue that featured pre-dam era Putah (as am I). Da...

Nice!
One can really sense the rushing water/snowmelt from the photos.

Re: Smith River Trout?

Neat! I have seen enough photos to wonder if I'd be able identify one accurately if I caught one. Fascinating fish.
Thanks

Podcasts Article

Great article and fun topic. I play these things not only on my iPod but they can be burned to CD and played while driving etc. One thing that might be fun to add is that there are tons of amazing podcasts that discuss relevant but not 100% fly fishing related topics. Here's a great example of a pod...

Aug. 2007 Issue

The latest issue has me wondering yet again why CA Fly Fisher doesn't publich a collection of all the great tales that make it to its pages. So much great stuff outside of the instructional/location-specific/reporting. I rarely get drawn into this stuff but CAFF really shines here. I also wanted to ...

Chatham (April 2007 issue)

This author always keeps me riveted because of the legendary moments in locations I can picture in my mind. Having first read his work in the late 70s, I even then felt like much of his writing was laced with nostalgia (for better or for worse). Ironic that some of what the current contribution cite...

Squaw

Fascinating read (that PDF). Thanks!

As for the fish ... The "Pike Minnow" will always be a Squawfish to me.
Hmmmm but better Pike Minnow than PIKE proper. At leats in California.

SD ...

Although I am primarily a trout guy from the trout mecca known as Los Angeles, if I were you, I'd fish the surf or simply surf! Carlsbad's a great place.

Re: Jawbone Cr.

Next time let's do something a little more challenging. B. Yes, Bernard, I totally agree! I've heard that there is a "uncharted" wild Golden Trout stream with fish up to 30" in it. All you have to do is scale up Mt Whitney, walk down into the Golden Trout Wilderness, fish it to your hearts content,...

Jawbone Cr.

Ahhhh looks familiar! I was surprised how few of the usual cuts and bruises I sustained BUT the "training" pack I was using with extra weight contributed to sore legs. That was FUN !!!!!!!!! Next time let's do something a little more challenging. ... and here's one back at ya! http://www.myfishingpi...
