East Carson River

Anyone fished the East Carson recently? I'm thinking of going next week, but was wondering about water conditions, etc.

I had heard that and treated my waders, but thanks for the link. I was surprised by the new regulations only recommending freezing. Last I heard and read all the studies recommended treating with 50% 409 solution. What changed?

I'm looking for a packer that takes trips for Little Kern Golden Trout. Any ideas, fly shops that might recommend one?

Fly Rod Advice

I've decided to become a TU Life Member. The current bonus is an Orvis rod and reel. Of the choices available, I'm considering the Orvis T3 Tip 9.5 8 Weight rod. The Orvis catalog/Web site lists this as a saltwater rod. I'm looking at an 8 weight for steelhead fishing. Does anybody know this rod? Wo...

Trinity River Steelhead 11/28/06

My wife and I fished the Trinity River near Junction City on Tuesday, 11/28/06. It was freezing cold, having snowed for the previous three days. Air temp. in the AM was in the 20's. As a result the water was cold and the fishing was very slow. Our guide did not believe in egg patterns or indicators ...

Walker Rivers Fishing Report

My wife and I spent 10/17 - 10/20 fishing in the Bridgeport area. The weather and the waters were just about perfect in both the East and West Walker Rivers. The days were clear and cool, the nights in the 20's. We caught a number of both Rainbow and Brown Trout. Brown Trout were caught in both the ...

One thing to inquire about: There is a Fishing Derby in October in the Owens River/Crowley Lake area. This can mean a lot of fisherman on the better known waters. Ask about it at the fly shops in Mammoth Lakes and Bishop. The streams in the June Lake Loop as well as the smaller creeks in the Mammoth...

Deep Creek Report

Well, here's my report, such as it is. We stopped at the Ranger Station in Sky Forest to get up-to-date info. Access to Deep Creek is closed in the Splinter's Cabin and T6 area. Specifically, Forest Route 3N34 is closed between 2N25 and 2W07. We then decided to try accessing Deep Creek in the Devil'...
