Re: Another Victory for Martis Lake

Of course, it's still not clear if the monitoring program will be enough to protect Martis Lake's fishery. One of the issues that remains to be addressed is the adequacy of the water-quality standards for the lake itself. That's a battle still to be fought.... -Richard A small victory nonetheless. ...

Have to agree. One of those "Now why didn't I think of that?"

If you've been broken into recently, as Marc has, watch ebay. That's how I caught the guy who broke into my car on the Feather five years ago. Maybe the bastards got smarter, but let's hope not.

the pub

Reminds me to throw a few trash bags in my vest and the pocket of my kickboat for such emergencies. Nice little outing, nevertheless. 8) Joe, You are one funny guy. We have to keep our humor through all of this trashing. And yeah, I always bring a trash bag. I think next to sunscreen, bug dope, and...

I'll be back up to the cabin around July 4th. Hell of a fireworks display at the beach! 8)

I'll check with local historians/government offices to get the best idea I can.

Mmm, home-brewed beer! You make me want to break out the carboy and resume my long-stalled beer-making adventures. (The last attempt: spruce beer. Mmm, tastes like...trees!) You got that right! We made a 20 gallon batch of stout one time, stellar stuff all around. Not too burnt, just chart ...

Thanks Richard! It's good to get "the background" on issues like this. I'm still planning on dropping off my award-winning Belgium Whit at your place, along with Swill D. Beers, sometime soon. :D

Happy Holidays to you all. Sorry I've not been returning any calls, emails, etc. I'm deep in the bowels of Mercy San Juan Medical Center with my 25+ week-old preemie. Amazing what they can do....!

And, yeah, Ken, you still da man! Hit some kelp beds for me. 8)

lovetime for the bluegill

They'll be on the spawn when the water is about 68.6-72.4 degrees at four feet. Then they'll be nesting. I don't think that's going to happen until this cold weather clears us.

Ditto Bud's response. I don't see very well and I have had three pairs of prescription sunglasses set up by my doc. They've been very good for me so far with polarized ratings as good as Maui Jim's or Action Optics.

sappy stuff

Chip and Eric,

Thanks for the kind words. I was afraid it'd come across too sappy. These ARE precious times indeed.

Eric,

No more gall bladder problems, you hear me? Next year, we'll hit the mammoth area with the boys.

fatherhood

My boy is two. He's funny, loves to chase "Dadda" and shove Cheerios in my mouth while we watch Clifford the Big Red Dog videos. I took my wife and him to a lake one summer day so I could float it and get my fix for a few days (and get "family time" points.) After a while of not catching anything, I...

the bleach

I heard that the DFG has pulled their recommendation of using the extract and bleach because of inconsistent results. The best bet is to freeze the gear, and to really make sure it's completely frozen.

The only fishing I've heard about in Napa is in deep pockets, for keys, after wine tasting.

Golf? I've been wondering the same thing. Of course, I don't have any real news either, but it's more fun to poke the finger at someone else. Thanks for the info, Richard--I was thinking about hitting the Little T one last time. I'm still bummed I'm going to miss the Yuba clean up--man, that ...
